Two-dimensional series evaluations via the elliptic functions of Ramanujan and Jacobi

We evaluate in closed form, for the first time, certain classes of double series, which are remindful of lattice sums. Elliptic functions, singular moduli, class invariants, and the Rogers--Ramanujan continued fraction play central roles in our evaluationsComment: 12 page

Detection of Disguised Voice Using Probabilistic Neural Network

    Get PDF
Since voice disguise is the process of concealing one’s identity, it is being widely used for illegal purposes. This has caused a negative impact on the audio forensics, so it is important to identify whether the voice is disguised or not. It is more difficult to identify whether the voice is disguised or not, if the voice is disguised using electronic scrambling devices or audio editing software tools. We know that voice disguise is the modification of frequency spectrum of speech signals, so we will be using mel-frequency cepstrum coefficients (MFCC’s). In this paper, we will be extracting MFCC statistical moments including mean and correlation coefficients as acoustic features and then we will be using an algorithm based on these features and will be using probabilistic neural network (PNN) as classifier to distinguish whether the voice is disguised or not. Investigation Of Ion Current Signal In A Modern Automotive Diesel Engine

    Get PDF
Research is driven towards finding an alternative or extender to the conventional diesel fuel for compression ignition engines. Such alternative fuels have wide ranges of physical and chemical properties which is not suitable for CI engines. Therefore, experimental investigation to understand the effects of different fuels on engine performance, combustion, and emissions are necessary. A complete understanding of ion current signal during heterogeneous diesel combustion has not yet been made. Implementation of ion current signal as a feedback in diesel engines, during all operating conditions needs further research and understanding. This thesis covers the investigation of ion current signal characteristics as well as combustion, auto-ignition and engine out emission characteristics during the operation of modern high speed diesel engine using ULSD. Furthermore, the study covers the effect of using different fuels such as JP-8 and Sasol-IPK on a multi cylinder, direct injection diesel engine. Comparative results of three fuels are presented considering ULSD as a baseline fuel. This work aims to identify the possibility of using jet fuels in a modern automotive diesel engine without any modifications. Ion current signal characteristics during the operation with the three fuels and its correlations with combustion parameters and emissions are presented

Strategies for Small Scale Vendors in India to Approach Lower Mainland Companies

    Get PDF
The top IT companies in India are interested in high value projects from Canada, while several small companies in India would be interested in accepting small-scale projects from Canada. This project develops strategies through which small-scale vendors in India may approach Lower Mainland companies for their smaller projects. Through a survey on Lower Mainland companies, the project recommends that small-scale Indian vendors should differentiate themselves through economies of scope, not necessarily through achieving quality, but by building a strong reference list through previous work with other clients. Vendors should also prepare a differentiation strategy with respect to other countries and provide a strong level of communications with the client through a local contact. Vendors should not accept more than a 20% advance and should finish projects with no time overrun in order to improve client response

    Nanoscale Electrodes for Bionanosensing

Cancer is globally the second most common cause of death. Cancer burden rises to about 10 million deaths and more than 18 million new cases in 2018. Cancers are often diagnosed at a later stage preventing curative treatment. This underscores the need for an early stage diagnosis of cancer. Consequently, screening methods that can test patients’ samples taken by less invasive methods capable of early stage diagnosis are highly sought for. Based on this motivation, here we developed lab-on-a-chip diagnostic systems that can be used for early detection of cancer. Three different types of nanoscale electrodes were fabricated: (i) nanogap electrodes (ii) nano interdigitated electrodes and (iii) nanodisc electrodes and the possibility of using them for sensing and signal transduction were investigated. Chapter 2 describes the fabrication of nanogap device using conventional optical lithography and DNA detection across it using the electrical method. Chapter 3 details the fabrication of nano interdigitated electrodes (nIDEs) and their electrochemical validation. Chapter 4 describes the biosensing application of nIDEs using nanoparticle sandwich assay for the detection of DNA molecules. Chapter 5 describes the capturing of tdEVs on nIDEs, and its quantification using a sandwich immunosorbent assay on nIDEs. Chapter 6 proposes a new type of nanoscale electrodes which are termed as nanodisc electrodes. Chapter 7 explores the possibility of developing the nanodisc technology to a business idea. In short, the whole thesis tries to explore the different possibilities in developing a sensor that can be useful for cancer diagnosis
